James A. Mason Dies Tuesday, Rites Thursday

I recently found my Grandfather's obituary in my parent's bible (which was given to my daughter, Debra Ann Boyd.  DOB: June 2, 1882 ~ DOD: June 7, 1960

James Mason Dies Tuesday, Rites Thursday

James Arthur Mason, 78, died Tuesday afternoon at 6 o'clock in a Jackson hospital after a long illness.

Born in DeBouise County, Indiana, he has lived in Vicksburg since 1927. Mr. Mason is a retired forest ranger who served as a tree surgeon in the Vicksburg National Military Park. After leaving the park service, he became a carpenter.

Mr. Mason was a Long Lake Baptist church member and a Mason belonging to the Russellville, Ark., lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marie Floyd Mason, Kingston, NY; three daughters, Mrs. Clyde Duncan (Ruby), Chaffee, MO., Mrs. Field Rielly (Bonita), Kingston, NY., and Mrs. Marion E. Love (Evelyn), of Vicksburg; two sons, LeRoy Mason, Raymond, MS, and Charles Wesley Mason, Kingston, NY; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Jose Blaney, Russellville, AK, and Lizzie Stubblefield, Morrilton, AK.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Hugh T. Smith, pastor of Long Lake Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be W. M. Walley, M. D. Ogle, Ernest Hawthorne, Charlie Rafferty, M. L. Halman, John Winter, Dewitt Walker, Floyd McKay, Tom Rodenbaugh, George May, Henry Allen, O. J. Bori, D. A. Daid and J. L. Hudgins.
