Suzi's Wedding

MR. NICHOLAS, MISS BOYD EXCHANGE VOWS AT THE CHAPEL AT CEDAR GROVE ON JUNE 10, 2000


Dennis Edward Nicholas and Marian Suzanne "Suzi" Boyd were married at 3:00 p.m. June 10, 2000, at The Chapel At Cedar Grove. The Rev. Richard Burrough, Jr. officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Marian Love Phillips and Mr. Jesse Aaron Boyd, Jr. of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Marion E. Love, Sr. and the late Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Boyd, Sr. all of Vicksburg.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Midge Ezell and Mr. & Mrs. John Nicholas of Tallulah, LA. He is the grandson of the late Mr. And Mrs. Otis Nicholas and Mrs. Lillie Wright.

The entrance to the chapel was decorated with white tulle, bows and potted ferns. The family pews were adorned with magnolia clusters. The chapel held a matching trio of a single brass candelabras with a cathedral candle on each stand. Each candle was surrounded by plumosa and cregan ferns and a bountiful arrangement of floral pastels. Pianist Jim Robinson played the romantic tune, "Ode to Joy" for the processional. The bride entered to Clarke's "Trumpet Voluntary."

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white organza over satin. Beaded re-embroidered alencon lace fashioned the fitted bodice with its sculptured open neckline and cap sleeves were detailed with seeded pearls and rocals. Embroidered lace trellised down the a-line skirt edging the hemline and continuing onto the chapel train which fell from miniature satin roses at the back waistline. Her headpiece was a seeded pearl crown with an open middle and an illusion in the back with scalloped edges and three pearls entwine together attached to the scalloped area.

The bride carried a garden gathered bouquet featuring pale tones of peach, lavender, blush and white roses. White wax flowers was laced through the design with sheer ribbon edged in pearls.

Maid of honor was Jo Ann Cretsinger of Vicksburg. Bridesmaids were Samantha Treubel and Brandy Andress all of Vicksburg. The attendants wore full-length silver sleeveless satin sheaths with a chiffon scarves and silver strapped heels.

They carried Confetti roses caught with sheer ribbons. Lemon leaves completed the garden grouping.
Rachel Terrell of Baton Rouge, LA was the attending flower girl. She wore a white sleeveless matte satin a-line gown with a jeweled neckline, trimmed with beaded lace. Her halo was tiny white roses and baby's breath. She carried a basket of fresh rose petals to toss.

The best man was Jason Devillier of Lafayette, LA. Groomsmen were Ed Lebouef of Lafayette, LA and Clay Crawford of Detroit, MI. Eric Treubel of Vicksburg served as usher.

The bride's mother was escorted by her brother, Mr. Marion E. Love, Jr. and she wore a tea-length a-line dress with a cluster of pastel pink roses under a soft overlay of ivory chiffon.

The groom's mother wore a tea-length white chiffon two-piece with a beaded top.

The groom's step-mother wore a two-piece of green florals accented in champagne colors.

The mother's wore corsages of blush roses.

The bride presented her mother, the groom's mother and step-mother with a long stemmed blush rose during the ceremony.

A reception followed in the Grand Ballroom at The Chapel At Cedar Grove. Ferns adorned the room. A large mix of colored floral arrangements in the brides chosen colors were on the mantel and at the tables.

The three tiered cake held fresh roses of the bride's colors.

Guests were entertained by piano stylist, Jim Robinson.

Hostesses were Theresa Mallett, Kathleen Day, sisters of the bride, with Sonya Gordy and Victoria Boyd, nieces of the bride.

A bubble basket was attended by Kara and Angel Cretsinger.

Shirley Ann Scott served Miss Boyd as Wedding Coordinator.

The couple will make their home in Youngsville, LA. The bride is a dental assistant for Dr. Carl Breaux in Lafayette and the groom is a air-traffic control specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Out-of-state guests were from Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas and Michigan.

The bride and groom took a honeymoon cruise on the Orient Lines in July 2000 to the Mediterranean Sea and ports of call of Spain, Monaco, France, Italy, Malta and Greece.

Engagement Announcement

Marian Suzanne Boyd and Dennis Edward Nicholas, were honored at a pre-nuptial party held in the home of Jim and Shirley McCoy in Lafayette, LA. Hosts were Jim and Shirley McCoy, Jason Devillier and Rita and Harry Hawkins.

Rehearsal Dinner

The rehearsal dinner was held at Duff's Tavern and Grille on the eve of the wedding. This time was chosen to present gifts to the wedding party.

Shower

Jo Ann Cretsinger, Brandy Andress and Samantha Treubel honored the bride with a miscellaneous shower at Pecan Ridge Club House in May 2000.
