My Grandmother's Home (Della Antoinette Mazerat Love)

Postcard picture of Beauvoir, Jefferson Davis Shrine in Biloxi, MS.  It was the last home of Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy.

It is also a perfect replica of my Grandmother, Della Mazerat and her three sister's home as they were growing up.  My Great aunt, Sister Mary Ligouri m.s.c., describes their home at 3129 N. Rampart St., New Orleans, LA, on the postcard.  She wrote that the front yard was beautifully set out with flower beds of roses, violets, jasmines and small carnations.  A large fig tree stood near the fence on the right side and a date tree on the left.  The premises facing N. Rampart St., were enclosed by an iron railing fence.  On the gate was a plaque, made of metal, on which was inscribed the name of their Grandfather, William H. Wilder (lawyer).  This postcard is a precious keepsake of my relative's home of  days gone by.
